The Cambodian government has spent more than $ 2 billion to fight Covid-19 and support its people as Cambodia faces the epidemic.

During a meeting held in Brussels, Belgium with citizens living all over Europe, on December 12, 2022, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen highlighted Cambodia's prominence at a time when the world is facing an outbreak of Covid-19, in which the Royal Government of Cambodia has managed well, which has made the situation of Covid-19 comfortable now.

He said that in the face of the pandemic, Cambodia had introduced two major measures: health measures, including free vaccinations for citizens and foreigners and the release of cash packages for locals to help victims of the Covid-19 crisis.

"It is true that our country is poor, but the Royal Government is spending money to solve the problem of Covid19 without leaving people without vaccines or paying for vaccinations," he said.

In addition, the government has released about $ 41 million to help more than 700,000 vulnerable families, in addition to helping factory workers and tourism workers affected by suspensions.

"I can conclude that during this time in Covid19, the government has released more than $ 2 billion in our cash savings to meet the needs of the fight against Covid19 and the need to help the affected people," he said. "

According to The World Bank report released on December 9, 2022, Cambodia is now living with COVID-19. Since November 1, 2021, the authorities have relaxed travel restrictions, “reopening” the country for business while continuing to strictly enforce protective health measures. Coronavirus infections and mortalities receded in the fourth quarter of 2021, thanks mainly to the country’s success in rolling out its vaccination program. The country is planning to implement an economic recovery plan soon.
